The feeding of our baby will be very important in its development , since it will depend on the foods that we put in its daily diet. From 7 months our little one can start to eat solid foods and we are going to know this because he will send us different signals with his behavior.
If the baby can hold his head up on his own, he can sit well in his chair and stand alone, makes chewing movements with his mouth and tongue, shows interest in different foods and closes his mouth around the spoon, your baby you are ready to start eating different foods other than breast milk.
What to feed a 7 month old baby
When our baby turns 7 months, it is time to add different foods to his daily diet, since he can start eating more solid food, but not everything goes. Keep in mind that the little one is still 7 months old and has to start experimenting with different textures little by little. BREAST MILK OR FORMULA MILK
That our baby begins to feed with other foods does not mean that we have to eliminate milk from his diet, so we have to continue giving him breast milk in the case in which we are breastfeeding him or formula milk in the opposite case. Of course, we will lower the number of feedings and the amount of milk in your diet since there will be other foods that complement it.
It may become the new favorite food of your 7-month-old baby and this is because of its sweet taste, in most cases. Of course, for now we are going to resort to porridge and fruit crushed , since as our baby is not used to chewing, he may choke trying to eat the fruit in pieces. Not all fruits are recommended for babies of 7 months, so in this case, experts recommend feeding our baby with fruit porridges that contain banana, apple or pear. Ideally, consume the fruit in the mid-morning or late-night intake.
In the case of vegetables, as with fruits, we will have to crush them so that the little one does not choke on them and can feed himself with their nutrients (if you do not give him the Baby-Led Weaning diet ). In this case we will resort to vegetables such as avocado, carrot, potato, onion, pumpkin, sweet potatoes. The noon hour is the perfect time to give our baby the vegetable porridge.
The meat is very important to start adding this month , as it is what will help your bone and muscle structure to become strong so that you can continue to develop and start making your first movements. In this case, we will include the meat in the purees with the vegetables and we will grind it with them. Chicken, beef, pork and lamb are going to be the most recommended for 7 months and, as we have said before, lunch time is the perfect time for this type of food.
It is very important that every time we introduce a new food into the baby’s diet, we do it in small amounts to see how the baby reacts, since it may be allergic and we do not know it. On the other hand, it is also very important that when we add a new food to the diet we do not do it again with another after at least three days, in case it has an allergic reaction with it.
