THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT TEETHING
You need to know some important facts about teething. This way you can have a much clearer idea of what your child feels when their little teeth start to come out.
-Tething is when a real tooth breaks through the gum and appears in the baby’s mouth.
– Teething can occur at any time from three months to 12.
-Early teething occurs in babies under seven months and late after one year.
-Normally the teeth begin to come out between 7 and 9 months, but each baby has its own rhythm and you do not have to worry excessively if it takes a little longer, in fact there are babies who turn one year without having teeth yet.
-When teeth appear in the gum, babies may feel some discomfort that lasts for a few weeks as the teeth settle into the gums and begin to prepare to push up.
-In teething babies drool more and want to chew and chew on objects all the time.
-Rarely teething causes fever, loss of appetite, diarrhea, or earache.
-If the baby is more than 15 months old and does not have teeth, it will be necessary to go to the dentist to take an X-ray and verify that the baby has formed teeth .
SIGNS THAT THERE IS LITTLE LEFT FOR TEETH TO GROW
There are some signs that there is little left for the first teeth to appear soon. Some of these signs are as follows:
-Excessive drooling
-Bite objects
-Loss of appetite
-Low fever or periods of intense fever
-Irritation in the diaper area
-Frequent stools, possible diarrhea
-Foots that run from the nose
-Severe or mild earache
DON’T CONFUSE DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES WITH TEETHING OR HUNGER
There is a theory that teething can “weaken” the baby’s general immune system and make it more susceptible to diseases such as otitis media (ear infections), bronchitis (chest infections), and tummy disorders. This, however, has not been scientifically proven.
Many parents confuse normal developmental milestones (like biting fingers and hands and blowing bubbles with drool) with teething. Remember that, around three months, your little one will find his hands and will want to put them in his mouth all the time because it has been a great discovery, this will create a lot of drool … but this has nothing to do with being hungry or teething .
IS MEDICATION GIVEN TO EASE THE PAIN?
There are parents who, when they see their babies with pain due to teething, give them appropriate medicines for this purpose that they sell in pharmacies. Teething babies may have a headache, a sore mouth, and a general malaise. The nights can be more complicated by pain (but not by teething itself), so this type of medication (better if prescribed by the pediatrician) before sleeping can be a good option to help the baby rest better. .
The Snapper is a good idea to have them stored in the refrigerator (not freezer), because the coolness of the fridge will help your baby feel relief at having inflamed gums.
Remember that teething is a normal part of baby’s development and needs your understanding and love throughout the process. It’s something temporary.
