BABY’S DEVELOPMENT IN THE THIRD TRIMESTER
A lot will happen with your baby’s development during these last few months. This is what is happening inside your wife’s uterus during weeks 28-40.
From 28 to 32 weeks. The baby is now covered with a substance called vernix, a fatty substance that protects the baby from the fluid that surrounds it in the womb. The baby’s body has grown to the size of his head. Now you can live, with specialized care, if you are born early.
- From 32 to 38 weeks. The baby is perfectly formed, although he still has to gain more weight. Over the next several weeks, you will gain body fat, your lungs will mature, and the testicles of baby boys will descend into the scrotum .
- From 38 to 40 weeks. The baby’s head will be positioned in the pelvis, ready to be born at any time.
MOM IN THE THIRD TRIMESTER
As the size of the baby increases, most women experience some discomfort. Baby’s weight and more vigorous movements can cause various physical problems, such as back pain, heartburn, restlessness, frequent trips to the bathroom, and sleepless nights .
Providing support during this time is essential to a woman’s physical and emotional health. Your body is doing the most important work in nature: it is creating life and there is little left for your body to prepare to bring a baby into the world. There is nothing more wonderful and painful at the same time than that!
HOW PARENTS SHOULD PREPARE FOR THE LONGED-FOR MOMENT
The plans you make and the things you check off your list in the next few months before your baby is born can help you be better prepared. Here are some things for you to consider in this remaining time:
- Help your wife to design the birth plan so that she feels that you are part of everything too. Even if she is the one who will bring the baby into the world, you will be by her side at all times . So you will also know what will happen, what you will see, the choices you can make to make it an exciting and happy birth.
- Antepartum classes are a good idea for you to learn a few things for the first few weeks so that you can help your wife at all times while she recovers.
- If you are concerned about the birth or the health of your baby, it may be a good idea to have a good friend, family member, or doctor to talk to. Find the support you need to be a good support for your partner.
- Do not forget to take care of your own health: eating a balanced diet and exercising will help you minimize stress and become an ideal partner for your pregnant woman.
- Evaluate the obligations that you will have once your baby is born. Early planning can help soften the financial blow of parenthood.
It is normal to feel anxiety and even fear about being a parent. But remember, for most men, becoming a father is one of the greatest joys in life. If you have problems, talk to your partner . Communication is the key to sharing and finding solutions. Above all, enjoy your new role as a dad!
