Late development is when a person appears to have an ability during childhood and even into adulthood. Throughout the early years of school, the grades of a late-developing child are often quite low. He does not usually excel in any subject or demonstrate any particular talent or ability in academia. When these people grow up and go to college, they don’t tend to excel either, at least during the first years of college .
At some point, however, this late development begins to wear off and get it right. If the person is in college, they will go from low average grades to better ones. If you are at work, you will go from being a barely observed employee to a star employee.
However, the transformation is not due to magic overnight. It can be triggered by some event that occurs one day or in a specific period of time. A student with a low average in his grades could attend university, and by taking courses in different subject areas, he takes one that arouses his interest and therefore the motivation to improve.
It could be a person who never had a chance to study in high school or who was not bothered to pique their interest in a specific subject. It is the interest that leads the student to excel. At work, it could be a new project that piques someone’s interest. It may even be an opportunity to compete that was lacking before.
MOTIVATION IN LATE DEVELOPMENT
When this happens it does not mean that they are not intelligent or talented people , simply that their ability has not yet demonstrated it. They may have some intrinsic motivation, which means that they are internally motivated. Motivation must come from within the person to achieve good results, because if it comes from external factors, when those external factors disappear … motivation also disappears.
When intrinsic motivation exists, people are not motivated by grades or praise, which are external rewards. Your reward comes from the pleasure of learning or achieving. Motivation appears when you find something that interests you enough to pursue that interest.
A student who has never been exposed to the field of psychology may take a college psychology course and find that he wants to pursue a career in that field. A young adult who had never been to the ocean or an aquarium might have taken the opportunity to go fishing and find that they are interested in marine life.
Because discovering a passionate interest can motivate a child to text link work hard and excel, it’s a good idea to introduce your child many topics and activities. This does not mean that you have to enroll your child in so many activities that he does not have time for himself. It just means that you can provide opportunities for your child to be aware of different topics.
You may be able to turn your unmotivated and underperforming child into one who is eager to learn and highly motivated. Of course, the motivation might not be related to school work. For example, a child may develop an interest in electronics, but since it is not taught as a field of study, you may not see a change in school work, but if you maintain that interest, your child could become a successful electrician. or decide that path to study electrical engineering in college.
Ideally, all children would be challenged in school with topics of interest, but that is not always the case. If your child is not doing well in school, still don’t throw in the towel because he may be able to give much more of himself if you find the interest that that motivation awakens that is dormant inside him.
